The Community Council has been advised of upcoming roadworks to take place on Gillespie Road and Bridge Road, Colnton, scheduled for Sunday 5th October 2025.

These works are part of a programme to implement speed reduction measures, as requested by Colinton Community Council in conjunction with our Road Safety Team. The works are to install speed cushions and road markings to improve safety for all road users. To safely carry out these works and to get them done as quickly as possible, a road closure will be required on Gillespie Road and Bridge Road for the duration of the day. A signed diversion route will be in place to guide traffic around the closure.

We understand that road closures can be disruptive, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption and complete the works as quickly and efficiently as possible. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times, and we will aim to accommodate local access where it is safe to do so.
Access to businesses and homes
Pedestrian access will be maintained for residential and business properties for the duration of the works, but unfortunately we will be unable to accommodate vehicles within the working zone.
Changes to bus timetable.
Lothian Buses Service 18 will not be able to service Colinton on this date. Notification of the suspension of service will be advertised.
